Taichi Murakami, former pattern maker at m.a+ and designer of his eponymous brand. Under Maurizio Amadei, Murakami learned how to be flexible in his design process, an idea that contrasted with Japan’s strict nature and work mentality. The young designer moved back to Tokyo in 2012 to unveil his inaugural collection. Before beginning the design process, Murakami obsessively searches for the right material. His ingenious pattern-making follows the behaviour of the specific fabric he is using, allowing the same piece to be designed in several different ways.
