Not far from the center of Kyoto, there is an alley where machiya (Japanese traditional merchant’s houses) give out the smell of old central city of Japan. The warmths of afterglow of the sunset remind of sentimental yearning for the happiness felt in a good old days. The Japanese designer Rei was born in Osaka to two university professors. He grew up surrounded by tailors in his grand mother's atelier. Rei, the artisan of Japanese leather brand, IERIB, has his own atelier right in the alley. Designing, pattern making, assembling, material treatments, and metal parts treatments are all hand crafted by Rei himself, which he believes that is the only way for his creations appear exactly as he imagine.
